那一系列所谓的萨姆作案的证据，只是真正绑匪释放出来的烟雾而已。穆雷局长从衣兜里掏出了一张照片，照片上萨姆的尸体全身浮肿，浑身是血地躺在警局的解剖台上。如果不是穆雷局长指明这具尸体就是萨姆，恐怕没有人能认得出这个作恶多端的家伙来了！

萨姆被人灭口了，一个死人自然不能参加绑架案。穆雷经过调查，发现汤纳德绑架小杰瑞的怀疑最大。

穆雷局长经过调查，得知这种新型的间谍软件，就出自加拿大一家软件机构，汤纳德的姐姐就是那家机构的负责人。

韦伯账户里的钱，被转到了瑞典的TgS拼图设计公司。约翰去世后，这家公司就处在倒闭的边缘，是汤纳德的姐姐用这笔钱收购了这家公司。

汤纳德的姐姐就是汤纳德的同谋，她在国外高价雇来了一名杀手，这名杀手先扮成萨姆的手下，他在给快递员送件的时候，还故意让快递员看到了他画在手腕上的骷髅剑刺青。这名杀手将萨姆绑架成功后，他开这萨姆的H2加长版的悍马车到无人渡口转了一圈，并留下了车痕。后来这名杀手将萨姆灭口，又在缸底留下了宝石珠……这名杀手名叫科斯基，警局通过机场的入境记录，已经从国际刑警那里得到了他的全部资料。科斯基目前正被澳森警方通缉，相信不久后，他一定会落入法网……

坐在轮椅中的汤纳德听到这里，忽然一声怪叫，伸手便拔出了穆雷局长的配枪，然后他将枪口，顶在了韦伯的腰上。

穆雷看着惊慌失措的韦伯，笑道：“这次你信汤纳德是绑匪了吧！”

汤纳德在去年的时候，设计害死了约翰，TgS拼图设计公司一蹶不振其实早就在他的预料之中。他先让雇来的杀手扮作萨姆作案，接着他再利用小杰瑞，巧取了韦伯的银行账号和密码，然后让国外的姐姐用那笔巨款收购了TgS拼图设计公司。谁曾想天堂的美梦刚做了一半，他就被残酷的现实重新打落尘埃。汤纳德满脸都是诡异的笑容，他尖声怪笑道：“我发财了，我是瑞典TgS拼图公司的老板，我要称霸拼图界，哈哈哈！……”
